What is this Wayback Machine? Sounds like something out of Virtual Light ... It is EVERYTHING lol... it crawls the web and stores websites. It stored ohpeewon regularly until January of this year, then seems to have stopped for whatever reason, which seems really odd.

That is kind of spooky @krism. You have to wonder why.

Cue Twilight Zone theme - hey, that'd be a great battle. BTW, asked Ashley @palmsounds to give a shout on Twitter. Maybe some more of the folks will see it.

So I am waiting on TE, Sent JP 2 emails like KrisM, I found him on linkdin no response.
If we start over There are lots of choices on how to do it. I have servers and happy to host.
I can't imagine JP is not just AWOL. this happened before and we said he was dead that this happened that that happened and then he appeared.

It'd make sense with a new forum with some more dedicated operators. JP clearly isn't interested, if I read him right. But I'm hoping someone can talk to him and get access to the forum content.
Also I chime in on that flat structure with tags. On for instance Elektronauts I rarely visit the other categories, thus missing out on the social side. Flat structure is much more social, but perhaps with a locked set of tags (that can work like categories when you want).

If we get the database, we could just make a better version of the vanilla forum, IMHO it's quite good really with proper plugins. (Like the mutable instruments' forum for example.)
Oh, and interesting idea about locked tags!

I got a GoDaddy account, but could only bid on the domain. Starting bid is $1000,and even if I won, the domain will not become active for three months. IMHO, if JP does not renew it, ohpeewon.com as we know it is dead. Worst of all is the loss of data.

Oh, the impermanence of things...

the $1000 is a waste of money anyway since we don't get the data with the URL/Domain.
I'm definitely not married to this place, it was literally just the first or second thing on google that appeared on a search for making a free messageboard >.>
I'd be willing to help start moving information from the Wayback Machine to wherever we settle down at.

cuckoomusic . The site went down before I could count the votes. If it doesn't get restored, I'll take a new poll. I extended voting until we have a new home.

Think I´ve checked ohpeewon.com approx 20 times today... and also this place everytime for new posts If this is the forum we end up with I´d love a way to click "next" or to the page I want to go on the bottom as well as the top of the page..

This forum format hurts my soul! While vanilla is just vanilla it did almost everything we needed and what was missing were things we could have got had we had JP helping.
An added benefit is if we stay with vanilla, if JP surfaces and gives up the historical data we might have a better chance at merging it.
