I'm user KrisM from ohpeewon.com, I don't know what happened, just that ohpeewon.com has expired, and GoDaddy has put up an ambiguous message about whether it is being renewed or deleted. So I made this forum for refugees to gather at until something else can be figured out. Feel free to spread the URL around to anyone you know how to contact outside of ohpeewon.com Just for grins I'll probably play around with adding categories and stuff, too. I figure it'll keep this place organized so if we do move (or move back to ohpeewon.com) things can be shuffled easily-ish.

Thanks @krism! It felt like a stone cold knife to the heart when I saw that ohpeewon.com was down. I searched reddit for possible refugees and also created a facebookgroup called Ohpeewon just in case I could pick up some refugees there (but I´m not facebook-friends with any of the users so could not invite anyone lol).
It would be very sad if all the information from the old site is lost, but I do like this more advanced forum - and if all is lost we should all strive to rewrite our tips and tricks and make some legacy-threads for battles and similar "important" stuff.

I found a WhoIs updated today that says the domain expires in 2015, now, so I think we might be in the clear.
Nope, I went into GoDaddy's domain registry and it is listed as expired. I'll try and get a hold of Jon and see where things stand.

It was back for a few hours yesterday, and then was gone. It still is dead. I think this might be a sign that something needs to change. But meanwhile: the domain name renewal can't be that much money... between all of us we could easily chip in and cover the cost.

Agree, but it seems the owner has to renew it. Otherwise I would have done it. Anyone in touch with JP?

I emailed Jon yesterday but haven't heard back, yet. Right now we'd have to cobble up $1000 to snag the domain at auction (which ends in September) and that won't get us the information on the webserver/forum, that is just for the domain, which to me hardly seems worth it for any kind of nostalgia attached to it. A domain points to the website, but it won't get us the data. JP would have to give someone access to it, or we'd have to somehow fenagle what we could from Google's cache or something.

I definitely like this forum better. Now we just need some more users and some discussions! What about a nice banner?

I think preserving the data from the old forum is paramount! IF things were to migrate, it would be crucial that old content is transferred. I personally wouldn't mind pitching in some dollars to make it happen (not necessarily domain, but the new server etc.) but someone with the administrator know-how and passion for OP-1 community would need to step up to the plate!...

Agreed! But is it possible to migrate all the stuff from the old forum in a practical way?

shoutouts to KrisM for tossing me a boogie board to this refugee raft, ohpeewon was still working for me when i got your message so I was kinda thrown off the trail a bit, lol
i have a feeling JP will swoop in at some point. from what i remember from that one thread, he seemed pretty genuine about keeping ohpeewon going, but not necessarily hot on his radar (understandably). hopefully he responds back soon!
i DO like the categories u got here tho, and the search function of the old site was kinda wonky.

I was just playing around with the Admin functions and seeing how to build categories and whatnot Hopefully we don't have to lose three years of posts, but if we do have to start over I think at the minimum two people should have full admin access to everything, just in case. I'd be willing to buy a domain and set up shop in a place like this since I don't have a static IP or hardware to run a server (and would have to learn hehe), I know the fee to link this forum to a domain/url is pretty cheap, and it's something like $6-7 a month/50k page views for it to be ad-free (not that I see any >.> ). I don't mind that at all. But Dimi3 is talking to TE directly about the possibility of an official forum, so that's all on hold anyway until we know more.
